چکیده
Abstract This batch culture study evaluated the effects of crude protein (CP) and fat concentration on ruminal dry matter disappearance (DMD), methane (CH4) production, fermentation in grass hay-based diets supplemented with by-product feeds. Eight treatments provided low or high CP (8 12% DM, respectively), a range concentrations (1.8 to 6.0% DM) included following: Control (grass hay only); corn distillers grains solubles at 8.0% (CDDGS8) (CDDGS12); flax 8% (FS8) (FS12); canola meal (Can8); sunflower screenings from Winkler (SFW8) Deloraine (SFD8) 8%. Data were analyzed as randomized complete block design, fixed effect treatment random × block. Comparisons performed between a) mean b) c) CDDGS treatments, d) FS e) SF treatments. both concentrations, well differing also conducted. Overall, DMD did not differ treatments; however, comparisons indicated decreased (P < 0.001) compared CP. The was greater (P≤0.009) fat, regardless Methane production any but (P≤0.003) CP, vs SFD SFW. No parameters observed. In conclusion, increased vitro affect CH4 fermentation. Additionally, dietary can mitigate enteric negatively impact diets.

Sixteen rams (mean age: 13 mo; mean live weight: 40.0 ± 2.4 kg) were randomly allotted to four dietary treatments in a completely randomized design (4 rams per treatment). Diets (dry matter basis) contained 65% concentrate and 35% alfalfa hay (control diet, T1), 35% wheat straw (T2), 35% barley straw (T3) or 35% maize straw (T4). Total-tract apparent digestibility for dry matter, organic matter...

A digestion trial using cannulated lactating cows was conducted to evaluate the influence of barley grain processing on characteristics of ruminal fermentation and the site and extent of digestion. The experiment consisted in 4 periods and lasted 84 days. The total mixed rations contained 39.86% of grains and 42.90% of alfalfa hay and the rest of ration was composed mainly by cane molasses, fat...

The aim of the experiment was to determine the effect of different dry matter content and addition of silage inoculant on the ruminal protein degradability. Alfalfa herbage was collected from two cuts and the fresh matter was sampled two times during each cut (with different dry matter content). During the preparation of experimental micro-silages, the chopped forage was treated with a microbia...
